RAGE
In this journey, we explored RAGE.
That pulsing undercurrent that has us screaming inside of our hearts.
As women.
As daughters.
As mothers.
As sisters.
As beings inhabiting this Earth.
Here are some tips to guide your practice using this playlist.
GODDESS POSE TO OPEN
Goddess Pose, utkata konasana or “fierce angled” in Sanskrit, is inspired by the fierce and compassionate goddess Kali.
Stay in a dynamic goddess pose for the first song, which is focused on root chakra healing. “Dynamic” meaning that you can do whatever feels good and supportive here to adjust the pose, deepening and grounding as you move. Maybe you circle your hips a bit or pulse deeper with your breath.
I encourage you to breathe deeply here and throughout the practice, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Allow any sounds that want to come through. Deep sighs, growls, guttural screams. Allow the sound to be carried on the breath – emanating from your root and sacral centers, not your throat.
DANCE TO MOVE ENERGY
Using the playlist, dance from “Smells Like Teen Spirit” through “Women of Hope”.
Focus on grounding and rooting yourself, moving energy through your feet and legs throughout the practice. On your inhales, pull grounding, light energy up through your feet and legs from the Earth. On your exhales, send any stagnant, fury and rage energy down out through your legs and feet back into the Earth.
STANDING ARCHER POSE TO INTEGRATE
When you reach the song “I'm on Fire”, it's time to get into standing archer pose – you'll switch sides halfway through the song.
In standing archer pose, imagine that there is a flame burning at the tip of your thumb on your front hand as you fiercely stare through it. Unblinking. Allow yourself to become the flame, and allow the flame to burn through and purify your body and your energy.
For the final two songs, find yourself in a seated position, placing your hands wherever feels supportive. Eyes closed, allow your energy to settle and ground as you receive the closing message.
Sometimes I get so inspired by a theme that I end up with a lot of great music on the cutting room floor. When this happens, I like to share the extended version of the playlist so you can dive deeper into the feeling that week. Here’s the Extended Rage Playlist.
